Ideal Contracting’s “Project Safety Program” utilizes our safety program and site-specific safety requirements. Our project safety program uses a standardized safety manual along with site-specific safety requirements to create safety plans for every project. Our program takes into consideration project related activities, project locations and owner specified safety requirements when developing a strategy of action, ensuring a safe work-site in compliance with federal and state health and safety regulations. Project safety plans, posted throughout the work area, provide clear procedural instruction in case of major injuries and medical emergencies.
“ A safety orientation program, tailored to the project site, identifies emergency procedures, owner safety requirements, site rules and other pertinent information. ”
Each employee attends the orientation prior to beginning on-site work, to ensure they meet all requirements. The site preserves documentation and provides orientation stickers for placement on hardhats, verifying that workers fulfilled the orientation requirement. As part of the program, we conduct weekly safety meetings and field safety audits for each contractor, to ensure compliance with continuous review to ensure the adequacy of the plan set in place. We record and investigate all injuries and/or safety violations, with detailed records maintained and distributed as required.
Ideal Contracting utilizes the Safety Observation Process which is a behavioral based safety program; with an approach to prevention, not reaction after the accident happens. This approach encompasses the premise that we must be the leading force in raising awareness and changing attitudes regarding safety. We recognize that the balance to this approach is in our quick response in dismissing those from the project who refuse to work safely.
Ideal Contracting implements combined team member training (GC/Sub/Owner) and customer safety programs at construction sites such as CPR, AED, First Aid, and 30 HR OSHA training. This program not only saves money by reducing the number of training classes but also allows members of the jobsite’s team (Ideal, sub-contractors, and the customer) an opportunity to build relationships and improve communication.
Ideal Contracting initiated the “I Need You To Work Safe Today” safety campaign engaging employees’ families and implemented it on every Ideal Contracting work site. This program reinforces our safe working practices and how it impacts others – especially family members.
The program includes sending a blank coloring sheet home with employees for children in each worker’s family to express through a drawing why safety at Ideal facilities makes for an Ideal work environment in which family members make it home safe every day.
